Not exactly, Karl. You've got the right idea but you are going in the
wrong direction.
The whole point to using the BOOTABLE diskette is so that you load
the OS from the "clean" diskette. True, the disk should be write
protected, but the only way to move the virus to the diskette is if
you were to activate an application on the hard drive BEFORE cleaning
it with the anti-virus program ON THE DISKETTE.
Once a virus is found on a hard drive, then EVERY application on the
hard drive should be suspect. You should also test/check EVERY floppy
disk that you have used in the recent past.
Virii have a nasty habit of "jumping" onto any floppy that is inserted.
You can clean your hard drive and then end up with the same virus again
next week because you reused an infected diskette.
