I believe Windows 7 ships with IE8.  Microsoft has previously stated that IE
is an integral part of Windows and cannot be removed.

I know that some prompts disappear when I enlarge the print on IE (or
Firefox too).  Try pressing Ctrl and minus at the same time, maybe multiple
times to see if the prompt appears.  This will make the type smaller and can
fit more information on the screen.

All all the add-ins installed?  Flash, Shockwave, Java, etc?
