I just bought an 'Xpert DVD MAKER' (a Kworld PCI card for capture and
recording of video & audio) from www.Egghead.com for $39.00. It came with
PowerProducer 2 Gold software from CyberLink as well as PVR Plus. The
PowerProducer includes "direct to disc" (VCR to DVD or CD) recording without
having to save to the HD first (that option is also available if you want to
do editing). It works good after I learned to set the recording speed to the
lowest available level for "direct to disc". After thinking about it, that
only makes sense since the recording is in real time anyway. The only
editing I do is to start the recording after all the ads on the front of the
tape are finished. The created DVD works on my computer and on my DVD
player.
Not a recommendation - just my experience.

Subject: [PCSOFT] saving video to CD or DVD
Here I go again. I know how to capture video from VCR (or other video input)
and save it to disk. I also know how to edit the material. The question now
is HOW DO I SAVE IT TO CD OR DVD so that it will play on my DVD player? I
have Ulead VideoStudio 5 (came with my video capture board) and also
Microsoft Movie Maker. Saving from Movie Maker, the HiMATT format it uses is
not recognized by my DVD player. Do I need different software, and if so,
what is recommended?
Thank you for any help and recommendations.
Peter
