Do you have XP auto updates enabled? Possibly a patch has been downloaded
preventing IE from fetching jpg's.

There has been a recent virus scare about the possibility of a virus being
encoded into a .jpg file, so perhaps a patch has been applied to prevent
this in Microsoft's usual quick answer to security---turn it off!

I don't know, only guessing, as I dislike auto updates for that very reason
and therefore don't use that facility. You never know when suddenly
something will cease to be functional. Perhaps now somewhere in the IE
options there might be an option to download .jpg's which has been disabled
by default.

Test the theory by going back to a site from which you recently saved a
pic, and see if you still can save the same file. If it is now blocked,
that would seem to rule out any difficulty at the website or server end,
and would point to something having been changed at your end.
