John,

I have been running OE5 since it came out in early April.
It has run flawlessly for three months.

I always run scandisk, then the registry editor, and rebooted before
upgrading or installing new software. It may be overkill, but I can
honestly say that I have not had any conflicts (except for Network
Associates stuff) and I have a LOT of software installed on my machine (WP 7
& 8, Office 95 & 97, Publisher, Front Page, QBPro, several graphic editors,
Netscape 3.x & 4.6, MSIE 3.x & 5, etc. etc.).
