Hello all,
I need your expertise. After doing my "homework" on VR
software, I
decided to purchase the IBM product shown in the subject line. I
wish I could say that I'm "voicing" this E-Mail, but I'm not. :-(
After loading the software and rebooting, I got to the
ViaVoice
User Wizard. After agreeing with user name, first environment, etc.
etc., I click on NEXT and get the following:
MCI Error
MMSYSTEM296 The file cannot be played on the specified MCI
device. The file may be corrupt or not in the correct format.
I find it hard to beleive that there is a corrupted file! So, I'm
assuming it's something to do with my system. My system is as
follows:
Pentium II 350 Mhz (100 Mhz FSB)
64 MB RAM (PC100)
Abit BX6 motherboard
Windows 98 (clean install on 5GB WD HDD)
Soundblaster 16 ISA card
Don't know what else to tell you
I'm a bit disappointed because I thought I was buying what I thought
to be the best VR product on the market and I can't get past the
setup wizard. I'm hoping that someone will be able to tell me about
the MCI Error and then I can bask in experiencing the IBM quality I
am certain this product to be.
Thanks for listening.
