Here is a useful tip given to me by the guy who looks after my PC and stuff.
Put an inch of boiling water into a bowl. 
Place the dried head in it and leave for ten minutes.
Place the head onto two thicknesses of blotting paper,
Leave till the loosened ink stops leaking out.
Repeat this process till the liquid coming out of the head is free of colour.
Leave to dry on fresh blotting paper.
Place back into printer and try a test print.
