First make sure the "always use ..." is not checked. If you know which
program created the file, see if that program is on the list. If not, I
usually try "notepad" and "word" type programs. If that doesn't work, the
program is probably in a language I would not understand anyway and I give
up.
If you have particular files that you need to open, supply the extension
information to us as that usually leads to information on the program that
uses or created it.

Hi,this question has been really bothering me.
When I try to open a file I get this box that askes which program do you
want to use to open?I have no idea which program to use. I have tried
different ones to no avail.
I have Windows98.
