I have a problem of my own making but can't seem to solve it. I have an
Olympus digital camera (C-3000 Zoom) that came with an Olympus proprietary
program called Camedia Master 2.0. In upgrading my computer last month I
inadvertently trashed the program and cannot find the original CD to
reinstall. Now I have pictures just taken of my daughters' wedding in Mexico
and I can't get them from the camera to my PC.

Here is the strange part. I really don't care about the Camedia program per
se since there are far better photo editing and manipulation tools around.
But it also installs drivers etc and that seems to be the key. I have found
what I believe are the appropriate sys file (olcamudp.sys) and .inf file
(olcamudp.inf) and when installed the PC (running Win XP pro) recognizes the
"Olympus Digital Camera" when I plug it into the USB port. If I go to device
manager and look at installed devices it is there under the Universal Serial
Bus Controller list. So the PC is seeing the camera as a USB device.

But nowhere can I see the list of files on the camera. It does not show up
under 'my computer' as a folder, a drive, a removable storage device, nada,
so it is not like a USB dive in that sense. Nor does it show up as a camera
under the camera and scanner wizard.

So, bottom line is that I have lots of irreplaceable le pictures, but can't
get them from the camera to the PC via the USB cable. I don't have a card
reader, obviously, or I would have bypassed this problem.

Any ideas or advice are welcome.
