Since you mentioned FileHippo at http://www.filehippo.com/ , I have 
found them to be a very good resource. One of their programs that I 
periodically use is the update checker (free) located in the top right 
of their home page under "Tools".

I will not address another removal procedure as it would simply add to 
the good suggestions already offered.
