Hi,
In Win 2K, and also XP I believe, one way to get around having to match
users and permissions between the sharing machine (server) and the client,
is to enable the "Guest" account on the sharing machine. It is present but
disabled by default. It is a simple matter to find the account in the user
administration applet and enable it. This allows unrestricted access for
shares.
WARNING: This is highly insecure, and not recommended unless you are not on
the internet, or have a good firewall setup. It is not recommended in an
office setup where you don't want other machines on the local net to access
your shares. It would only be appropriate in a home environment where the
internet connection is protected by a good firewall.
