far, but now I am trying to setup a particular folder that does access not
allow access to anonymous logins say the folder is called kerr I setup the
permissions for kerr so that the only user that had access to this folder is
james with p/w james, it doesn't work I get the message "access denied" even
though the ftp server did let me login wit the username james p/w james. >>
James,
If I remember correctly, when setting the permissions, james is a member of
the everyone group correct? Then on the folder permissions, everyone has no
access correct? If James is a member of a group that is denied access,
although you may try to set up james as having access, the everyone group or
the "denied access" group permissions overrides everything and denies james
access. For example, if james is a member of groups a, b, and c and group a
is denied access to something although groups b and c are granted access,
james is denied access. Can you remove james from the "a" group? If so,
james should then have access to that folder.
