Thank you. You put it into terms I could understand. I was able to get
into BIOS and change the Power Management to disabled and got what I wanted.

I appreciate this list -- I've learned a lot.

Thanks to everyone who answered my question.

I am not quite sure I understand this. but when you shutdown it turns the
computer off and you don't want this??
If you want to change the shutdown setting go to start/settings/control
panel/power management/ the advanced tab and under power buttons you can
adjust your settings. I am not completely familiar with the bios setup for a
Dell computer but for the most part bios generally work pretty easily when
it comes to adjusting settings. When the computer boots up. On the screen it
will say "Press Del for setup" In many cases substations for Del that you
may see are "ESC" "F2" or "CTRL". Pressing this button at as soon as the
computer begins it's start up will let you into the Bios. From there you can
look for "Power Management" or similar type statement or "next page" until
you see the power setups. When you find the particular line that controls
shutdown on the computer you can change the option there. Generally Bios
have a limited number of choices so you usually cannot write in your own.
You usually adjust those settings with the up/down arrow or page up/ page
down buttons depending on how your bios allows for adjustment. When you find
the setting you want leave it in place and as you exit save the changes you
will usually be prompted about that.
