I have been unable to find the file in which the default dictionary is
stored, but can suggest a partial workaround. Instead of removing the
suggested spellings, mightn't you just add each preferred spelling to the
"custom dictionary"? Word will then be satisfied with that spelling, and
won't suggest an alternative.

Of course, this won't suffice if you have a positive aversion to the
default spelling, and want to be warned when it is used.
