Cute FTP is a shareware FTP ( File Transfer Protocol Program ) that you use
to download and upload files directly from a FTP site.
Modern web browsers act as a front end for FTP programs but with very
limited capabilities. The newest version of Cute FTP is 3.0x and has a
unique error checking code designed to protect it from software Pirates and
Crackers. Unfortunately this code can cause the kind of problems your
daughter is experiencing.
I would suggest she try FTP Explorer which is FREEware , very stable , very
easy to use and can be downloaded from NoSpin.
I bet she will prefer FTP Explorer over Cute FTP unless she is
administrating a UNIX site or performing extensive professional FTP tasks.
If she needs all the bells and whistles I would recommend FTP Voyager 6.0
but like Cute FTP it is shareware and costs 40 dollars to register. Keep in
mind that both shareware programs will lose their extra features and throw
up <Beg Screens > when they load after the 15 day trial period until you
register them. My guess is that she will neither want nor need any more
capability then FTP Explorer will give her.
