  This is just a guess, but to support multiple PCs with a hub, you
may need a router between the cable modem and the hub.  What model of
cable modem is it?  (The fact that the cable company would sell you
another address suggests I could be wrong, but they may assume you
knew that.)

  The other approach that might work better is to plub the cable
modem into one PC, and use a second NIC and cross-over cable to
connect to the second PC; run ICS or the like on the first to provide
servie for the second.  (This should look to the cable company like
you're only using one address.)
