I have Windows XP Pro and MS Office 2000. All of a sudden, whenever I click on a shortcut to an
Excel document or the Excel shortcut in the toolbar, Windows starts the installation process for
Office.

If I go to the Office folder itself and click on the Excel icon, Excels starts AND the
installation process also starts. I cancel the installation and Excel runs normally. I can then
open any file normally. What would cause all the shortcuts to Excel (and only Excel, not Word) to
indicate that Excel is missing?

Thanks,
Kevin
