I believe if you go into Control Panel to modems, and click on it, it will
bring up your modem that is installed, then click on the button that says
properties, and click on that it will bring you to three tabs, under general
it will have speaker volume, I think if you turn that way down you don't
hear the screeching. Can't hurt to try.
