Purchased Roxio Easy CD Creator 5 the first of July. Compulsively followed
all install instructions only to find repeated errors, most often "Error
Initializing ICDEngine Main Interface." Have spent over 5 hours on the
phone with their pleasant technical support staff who: sent me 5.01, had me
uninstall every program related to CD burning (thank goodness for GoBack 3.0
or I would have be without needed programs), reinstall, uninstall, reinstall
. . . you get the picture. Has never worked, and continues to give the same
errors. I'm now awaiting a call so I can get my money back.
Curious - has anyone else had problems with this version? Running in
Win98SE, Dell XPS D300, 128 MB RAM. I have never had so much difficulty
with any program before.
Now as an aside - purchased a inexpensive program as a gift for my wife. It
too would not operate. Their technical support suggested not using the
CD-RW to install (I wasn't) but to try it if the "plain old" OEM CD-ROM had
been used before. Worked perfectly using the HP 9500 CD-RW instead of
CD-ROM. Tried doing that with Easy CD Creator, but no luck. Thought that
was interesting and worth passing on. (BTW: Have installed many other
programs in the last few months using the CD-ROM, and no problems.)
