1) Did You turn of screensaver and all scheduled tasks?
2) Try in safe mode.
3) Set swap file to another partition. If this is not possible use
fixed size swapfile.
3) Get better defragmenter. When I used Win9x I used
Norton SpeedDisk, but there is some freeware defragementers.
Can't remember name(s) as use long time now Win2k or WinXP.
For future, run defrag at least weekly. If You install and uninstall
much programs or create or edit many files daily it is good run defrag
daily.

PCSOFT Digest - 24 Dec 2003 to 25 Dec 2003 (#2003-357)Hi,
I don't know whether I'm doing this correctly, but here goes anyway.
I'm having difficulty defragmenting. If I do it the way that's described in
my Windows 98SE manual, it NEVER completes. It keeps restarting. I have
tried the "Control, Alt, Delete" route to close all of the programs.
Sometimes that's successful, other times it's not.
Any efficient method?
Thanks in advance,
Sharon Kiellach
