Win98 S/E have a "BUG" that caused the shutdown to delay and i notice the
delay getting longer over the time.
Microsoft wrote a patch for this problem, named Q239887 in the knowledge
base of the microsoft site.
if you have difficulty getting the patch. i can e-mail the patch directly
to you

Looks like this is my week for odd problems.

My wife's W98SE computer (AMD K6 2/400, 256ram) has just started taking one
heck of a long time to shut down. It displays the 'Windows is shutting
down....' splash for 45 secs then a black screen for a further 63 secs.
Startup and other ops are normal.

I've tried resetting the AMI bios to both Failsafe and Optimal settings,
but
there's no change with either.

I've tried restoring cabfiles, one from a week back, another from 10 days
ago - no avail.

Suggestions would be most welcome.
