Microsoft Small Business Edition Shortcut Bar icon

Now, why do you reckon Microsoft went and left it off? The Small Business
Ed of Office has the most apps of all the editions (Outlook, Word, Excel
PowerPoint, Publisher, Expedia Streets, Small Business Financial Mgr and,
of course, Internet Explorer). The difference between it and the Pro
edition is the Small Business Ed has Expedia Streets and Small Business
Financial Mgr (the Pro Ed doesn't) and the Pro Ed has Access and Bookshelf
Basics (Small Business Ed doesn't).

Just in case.... there's a couple of things you can check. You can find
all the shortcuts for Microsoft Office in the c:\Program Files\Microsoft
Office directory (assuming all default locations). You'll likely find some
Office shortcuts there that didn't make it to your Start Menu, too. If the
Shortcut Bar is included, you'll find it there. You can copy any shortcuts
out of there you like to your Start Menu folder or desktop - wherever you
like. If you still don't see the Microsoft Office Shortcut Bar icon,
there's one more thing you can try...

Pop in your MSOffice CD
Go to ADD/REMOVE PROGRAMS in CONTROL PANEL
Select Microsoft Office
Click on ADD/REMOVE
Once your are in Microsoft Office setup...
Click on ADD/REMOVE
See if there's an OFFICE TOOLS option, if so highlight that and select
CHANGE OPTION
See if there's a MICROSOFT OFFICE SHORTCUT BAR option, if so put a check
mark next to that
Click OK at the bottom
Click CONTINUE and follow the remainder of the prompts. Your shortcut bar
will be added.

If you didn't see MICROSOFT OFFICE SHORTCUT BAR as an option in the setup
either, then there is indeed no Shortcut Bar to be had. Why on earth not?
 One of life's mysteries... <g>
