Bob,
It's a two step process.
Step one.
You must tell IE to check and see if it is the default browser.
Click TOOLS -- INTERNET OPTIONS -- PROGRAMS and turn on the checkbox at the
bottom of the dialog. Now exit IE.
Step two.
Start IE. When it loads, it will check iteself, find that it is not the
default, and ask you if you want it to BE the default browser. At that
point, click YES.
All done.
