Jim, the reason {Page} is dimmed is because it is either a header or a footer. Double click on that section and the header or footer should open. At this point you can Alt F9 and it will change to a number and take {Page} away. Then click on the CLOSE button on your toolbar. If the CLOSE option isn't there, click on VIEW, TOOLBARS and select FORMATTING. Hope this helps.

Subject: [PCSOFT] Printing Page Numbers on "Word" documents
A simple problem, I hope, for this august forum: On my Dell PC, win 98,
Office 2000, I have "inserted" page numbers on "Word" documents, which
showed up - on my monitor screen. But they showed 'dimmed'. But on the
printed documents all that prints, in brackets, is: {PAGE}

When I accessed Word's "Help" I found the supposed answer: "If you see
field codes such as {PAGE} or {DATE} instead of the actual page numbers,
dates, times, and so on, press ALT+F9."

Which I did. Then, not only did {PAGE} continue to print on the document, it
also showed on my screen, dimmed, instead of the digit! So much for Big Bill
and his paperclip!

How do I get page numbers ( 1, 2, etc.) to print when I call for them from
my "Insert" drop down menu? And get rid of {PAGE}?

Suggestions will be appreciated to my E mail address above.

Jim Harris - Philadelphia suburbs

Do you want to signoff PCSOFT or just change to
Digest mode - visit our web site:
http://freepctech.com/pcsoft.shtml
