Hi again.  I downloaded one the of the suggested programs for
defragmentation.  Again, it starts, closing everything down, and starts on
my C drive again - which I had just done the day before using the
AafeMode, and now it looked like C drive was all messed up again.

Anyway it got to 56% and then seemed to stop - I left it running all
night. My only idea is that if I leave it for a bit the screen gets black
- (powering down?) and perhaps that stops it?
