I don't want to reinstall Norton, but I followed instructions on their site
to use XP's version of scandisk. Not very long after that, my computer
crashed; the error caused by unknown device driver.
Regarding the sound, I have removed the sound driver and tried to reinstall
in Windows device manager. It said the installed driver was the best one
for the computer. Still no sound.
I'm wondering if my computer is beyond repair. Do PC techs have software
that can find out everything wrong with a computer? Or do I need to
reformat the hard drive and start over?
