    The break would slash a page all right, but if you create an empty frame
(unchecking 'Move with text' to enhance positioning), and select the
text flow to wrap around, then enlarge the frame as much as you need (2 columns
across) and type in the header...
    This goes from my newspaper-making experience in Word 7, but AFAIK
it works in 6 as well.
