I'm at the end of my rope! I just had my computer completely wiped and
reloaded and purchased a new copy of Norton 2002 antivirus program. It is
installed and working great EXCEPT for the fact that the expiration date
shows 2/28/02, instead of 11/28/02 as it should. I have jumped through all
the hoops, downloaded the things their "techs" said to download in response
to my postings to their various "help" discussion lists. Uninstalled and
reinstalled the program, tried to register manually, only to be told that
I'm already registered. They sent me an acknowledgement that in THEIR
system my expiration date is 11/28/02, but getting it set up that way in my
computer has been impossible. So when 2/28/02 rolls around, my subscription
will expire, according to my computer, and I won't be able to download any
more updates, even though as Norton states, my subscription in THEIR
computer expires 11/28/02. I am not the only frustrated person having this
problem. There are loads and loads who are going through the same thing.
You can't get to talk to a real person without paying big bucks, which is
wrong, since I just purchased the program. It is just "fill in the form"
and get a response that doesn't help. Any idea where I should go from here?
I know that 2/28/02 is a couple months away, but at the rate I'm going, it
will be here and I'll be unprotected after that.
I formerly used McAfee, but it let me down....I downloaded new DAT files in
the morning, and shortly after got hit with "badtransB", since McAfee didn't
have the fix for badtrans posted till later in the day.
I've tried a couple of the free AV programs, but had problems with my system
locking up or not shutting down properly or various other things. That is
why I went to Norton, which is SUPPOSED to be the cream of the crop.....and
I agree, EXCEPT for getting a good solution that works.
Any and all comments appreciated, posted or by email. Like I said...I'm at
the end of my rope. Anyone who has successfully survived this scenario,
please fill me in on what to do.
I'm running Windows 98SE. Also, I'm NOT behind a firewall.
Thanks,
Mary Cameron
