That's about right.
You should partition your hdd to seperate your o/s from other stuff so that
you don't have to make a 7 or 10 cd backup.
I generally partition 2.5Gb for my o/s (W2k) and only backup the o/s
partition. The other 2 part's are 10gb which are programs and data.
