Hello Lynn,
Scan Disk is not supported in Windows XP. In XP you have Check Disk. For
details, including links to Microsoft Knowledge Base articles, go to Start
Menu / Help and Support and search for "Chkdsk".
You can run an abbreviated Check Disk from Windows Explorer. Right click on
the drive you want to check and select "Properties". In the Properties
window click the "Tools" tab. Then under Error-checking, click the "Check
Now" button. In the Check Disk window, select options as desired and click
the "Start" button. If you select the "Automatically fix file system errors"
option you'll be told it cannot do the disk check because it needs exclusive
access of some Windows files and asks if you want to schedule it for the
next time you restart the computer. Have fun and no errors...

Subject: [PCSOFT] Scandisk in DOS mode
Dear List,
I can't find how to start Scandisk from the dos prompt and since XP doesn't
allow you to manually initiate in windows unless you want to shutdown and
restart, which in my opinion is a pain, so anyone know how to start scandisk
from the dos prompt?
Thanks,
Lynn Kucera
