Peetie,
Check out JokeADay free e-mail. You get a 6 MB mailbox, the largest with a
free account that I'm aware of. I've had an account since it's inception and
have yet to receive a piece of Spam. I recently upgraded to Mail Plus
($19.99 a year) and with it you get a 25 MB mailbox, IMAP, POP, SMTP (with
your e-mail client), no ads, send and receive attachments up to 10 MB, and
more.
I didn't mean for this to sound like a "sales pitch", but I think it's a
pretty good deal... check it out here:

Subject: [PCSOFT] Browser mail provider
Greetings,
I used AltaVista a long time ago. The quality of service got worse and worse
and I had to give up on
them. I think Doubleclick had much to do with it.
More recently I've used Lycos-mail and Postmark.
It appears the same kind of thing is happening
to them.
Can anyone recommend a good browser-mail provider?
I don't mind paying, say, $20/yr, but I'd need to
determine that the service was adequate before
coughing up any $. Don't need a lot of bells and
whistles, just dependable (and responsive) basic
service.
Thanks,
Peetie
