     I just want to increment the integer value that is in the cell. Assume
     that cell A3 has a value of "5" I want to make cell A3 active, execute
     the macro and now the value in that cell is "6".

     You've not given us much information.  Do you mean every cell in a row
     or a column or some other criteria?
