Sometimes even the simplest things can cause a headache.
Problems with Outlook Express
1) Address book will not load - I get “Unable to open Address Book – The
Address Book may not be installed properly.”
I've gone to Microsoft/kb Q191946. It tells me to remove Outlook Express
and reload it to solve my problem.
To do this, I'm to go to Control Panel / remove/add / Windows Setup and
remove the check mark from outlook express (Outlook Express isn't listed
there) and three settings in the registry, reboot and then add Outlook
Express back in again.
I found Outlook Express listed in install / remove and deleted it there.
Then per the KB, I went to the registry and deleted the items there. I
rebooted and ran ie5setup.exe and am right back where I started.
2) Trouble with Dial Up Networking - After a Hard Disk crash and
replacement, I had to set up DUL again. I had some difficulty and tried
different times using IPO1, IOPO2, IPO3 and IPO4. Once one worked I
deleted the others from DUN and renamed the remaining one IPO. Now when
I click on IPO it gives me drop down boxes asking if I want to quit and
reconnect to IPO2 then IPO 4. I say no and everything works o.k. I've
searched for IPO2 and IPO4 and can't find them either in the programs or
in the registry. It will let me receive, but not send messages. I'm
using another IPO for this message.
Machine = Dell Dimension XPS H233, Windows 98, IE 5.0, 10 GB HD, 96MB
RAM, etc.
