The option is on the dialer window itself.  The next time you double click
the internet icon and the dialing begins, simply cancel it and uncheck the
box that says dial automatically (or whatever it says . . . you can't get
that little box up when you are online).  I learned this because Windows98
is insistent that I go on the internet . . .Hope this helps, Gina Hunkins
