Judy,

You need a program that can edit your oversize images and reduce them to
your screen size (i.e. pixel or dpi). Your problem is independent of your
operating system, although WinXP has a built-in viewer that resizes images
to the screen, and also Internet Explorer V6.0 does the same thing, so you
could view and print the files in Internet Explorer.

One specific, great little program that can do this is ACDSee by ACD
Systems (http://www.acdsystems.com/English/index.htm) price approx $50. It
is good at being able to open almost all image types in a speedy fashion.
In addition to resizing images (Which reduces their size to more easily
manage them) the program can also play video files and sound files and can
make slide shows, wallpaper images and can batch change image file extensions.

If you don't want to pay $50 to do this there are other programs for a
lesser price tag. Search with "Goggle" for image manipulator,
software/shareware/freeware programs.
