Laurel, I expect that you are stressing your internet connection. I would
be willing to bet that your connection is via a modem connected to your
telephone line? This type of connection is very slow compared to
"broadband" connections such as those that you can get from the cable or
satellite ISP's. It works fairly well for email, but videos contain much,
much more data than emails. What happens is that the program that you are
using to watch the video downloads the video data and loads it into a
"buffer." Then, when the buffer is full, it plays the video. Then stops
and downloads more. Then plays more. And so on. The buffer is big enough
to hold about three seconds of video, which has taken several minutes to
download.

There is no ideal situation for resolving this problem, short of going to a
more expensive broadband connection, which may or may not be available at
your location. (I use an expensive satellite connection at my rural
location.)

What you can, perhaps, do is download the video and then watch it. Start
downloading it and go off to do a chore. Come back when it is all
downloaded and then view it all at once. How you do this will depend on
what software tools are available to you and how the video is stored. I am
not familiar enough with programs like the Windows Media Viewer to know how
to do this. (I don't need to, because it works relatively well with my
somewhat slow satellite broadband connection.)

I hope that this answers your question accurately. If you are actually
using a broadband connection, such as Comcast, then write again giving more
info.

Subject: [PCSOFT] viewing video emails

I have a Toshiba Satellite running Windows XP with Juno Turbo as my ISP.
When I receive a video as a link or as an attachment I cannot watch it. It
runs for 2-3 seconds and then stops still and for 2-3 Minutes and then runs
again for 2-3 seconds and then stops, etc. What do I do to get it to run
properly. Even if I go directly to UTUBE or some such site I have the same
problem. Any help you can give me will, as always, be appreciated. I am so
glad I have you to count on.
Laurel
