Its good you turn your cable modem off when you are not using it, but I
still think firewalls are valuable.  And with a great firewall like
ZoneAlarm being free for personal use, why not have one just to be extra
safe?

Dear PCSoft,

I recently switched from dialup to cable modem.  I have an anti-virus
(ETrust) and I turn off the cable modem when I am not connected.

My question is:

Do I really need a firewall?  I have heard from various people differing
opinions.
