Thanks Dean -- both instances were indeed Window$ updates. Each of them
arbitrarily shut down and re-started the computer and I lost what I was
working on. Dratted M$! I think I have a "handle" on it now though: I
found where to set it to notify me, but not download or install updates
unless _I_ give it permission. Did I mention Window$ 7 is all new to
me?! <G>
Wonder if Ubuntu would work on the laptop then? Wish I could afford a
Mac as fast, with as many features and as much speed as that Toshiba has!
