Yes, most of the programs will work fine. I have used Windows 2000 for
almost a year now and I haven't run into any apps that would not run. As for
the hardware, drivers that come with XP should take care of most of the
parts. Of course this depends on suppliers and if they are still updating
their drivers.

This is rather pessimistic review. Most of your existing hardware will work
fine.
