With the email opened, go to the top corners of the email and drag the arrows to the full screen size. Next time you open an email it should be maximized.

  Hi Again

I thought about what I typed, Windows XP has nothing to do with my email. I
should correct that. I have Outlook Express. I have the same problem as
Lisa do, followed your instructions. My email will still open minimized.
  Any other suggestions? Thank you.
