Hi Al,

Have you tried via Control Panel > Sounds and Audio Devices and checked your settings
there?
Also check your Audio control panel for volume settings.

If the on-board amplifier is shot, you won't get too much volume or nothing.
Installing the Sound Blaster card would help, but not until you disable the on-board
audio and designate Sound Blaster to be the default audio device.
Again, settable in Sound and Audio Devices.
Disable can also be done via Device Manager > look for Sound, video and game
controllers and the on-board (integrated) Audio device.
You have the choice- if the first suggestion didn't work and you have determined that
the integrated audio is deficient , you can r-click this controller and either
disable or uninstall it.
Then you install the Sound Blaster card.Reboot.

Hope some or all of this will work for you ;)

Peter E.

The OS is XPpro, mobo is Asrock K7VM3. All of a sudden the sound went down to almost

nothing. Tried new speakers, even installed a Sound Blaster audio board and still
very weak.

Has anyone had a similar experience?? Thank you for all the help, Al Smith
