Hi,
I run XP Home on a P4, 1.5 Ghz with 512 Ram since Nov 01. I run Norton antivirus and firewall. I have just discovered the XP Event Viewer and noticed some warning messages that cause me some concern.
These are:

Event Type: Warning
Event Source: WinMgmt
Event Category: None
Event ID: 63
Date: 19/03/2002
Time: 18:49:50 PM
User: NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM
Computer: RJT
Description:
A provider, OffProv10, has been registered in the WMI namespace, Root\MSAPPS10, to use the LocalSystem account. This account is privileged and the provider may cause a security violation if it does not correctly impersonate user requests.

And

Event Type: Warning
Event Source: Userenv
Event Category: None
Event ID: 1517
Date: 16/03/2002
Time: 20:26:56 PM
User: NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM
Computer: RJT
Description:
Windows saved user RJT\Rick registry while an application or service was still using the registry during log off. The memory used by the user's registry has not been freed. The registry will be unloaded when it is no longer in use.

This is often caused by services running as a user account, try configuring the services to run in either the LocalService or NetworkService account.

There are also various times when the event viewer appears to have been stopped and then restarted after a period of time.

I can't seem to access the Microsoft help website shown in event viewer.

Does this mean that I have been hacked or that some one using my system (there are a couple of family) have done something? I would appreciate some advice as to what is going on (if anything). :)

Thanks
Rick Thornton
