If you simply turned "him" off, then click the yellow speech balloon
with the question mark to turn him back on.  But if you UNINSTALLED
him then that is a different story.  In that case,
you were correct to reinstall Office.  That is the only way to get the
assistant back if "he" is truly gone.  You must have missed the option
dialog box that has the check mark to install the assistant. Try it
again and look at each of the options for the Office there is a check
box in there somewhere.  Sorry I can't be more specific on exactly
where.
