WHEN I SEND A MICROSOFT WORKS DOCUMENT AS AN ATTACHMENT IN MY EMAILS,
PEOPLE SAY THEY CAN'T OPEN THEM. I HAVE WINDOWS ME AND USE NETZERO AS AN
INTERNET SERVER. IS THERE A WAY TO CONVERT THE DOCUMENT SO THEY CAN OPEN
IT AND THE CONTENTS AND FORMATS DO NOT CHANGE?

------------------------

I have come across this problem many times in my own school building,
and have downloaded Microsoft's MSWorks 'translator'. Even though
you would think that MS Word (Works "older brother", as it were) could
open a document created by Works, the simple answer is that it can't (at
least up until Word 97, and, I believe, even 2000). You could ask that
your recipients do a search for Microsoft Works translator (or converter)
for Microsoft Word, then download it, and install it, but such a request
may not meet with a favorable reception. What you might try is saving
your original document (the one you want to attach) as "File of type" and
choose one of the versions of MS Word that is listed. If you send this
document as an attachment, anyone with a version of MS Word (and
possibly even Wordpad) will be able to open the document.
