I too, started with VC (and WordStar).... on a 50 pound Osborne "portable"
computer with a 6" TV screen.  I thought I'd died and gone to heaven when
they gave me a PC.  (You mean you can store data on BOTH sides of the
floppy? <grin>
A whole 360K???? WOW!!!!)

I think that what added to the confusion of the Lotus file extensions was
their Symphony product which tried to compete with Ashton Tate's Framework.
Both were "suite" programs long before anyone (including Apple) even began
thinking about a graphic interface.

Sigh... sure do miss Framework II.

It was a DOS based system that used frames (aka windows), had spreadsheet,
database, communications, and wordprocessing all rolled into one product and
ran in 640K on an 8088 PC.  I used it to write technical manuals.
