I use textpad. www.textpad.com . it is shareware but if you don't pay for it
still works just every now and then a reminder comes up suggesting you buy
it. It also has option attachments for writing in lots of defend software
languages, and it has a unique little attachment that you can use with it to
make it replace notepad. So when you click on notepad, the textpad program
opens instead.
