To completely remove Avast from your system you need to download and run
"avclear.exe" from avast site. It's only 64kb in size.

Hope this helps

Okay folks I have a strange problem that just arrived:

I used to have avast antivirus running on my windows xp system. I swtich to
avg and uninstalled avast.
In the registry I was just removing junk entries. I noticed while doing so
that I was having trouble removing a key called LEGACY_AVAST_ANTIVIRUS and
similar keys of this nature, all with Legacy at the start. I did find a way
to remove all sub keys, values, and dwords but I never did remove the key.
This was done by removing all permissions. Now when accessing My computer,
the computer hangs for a bit with a flashlight and searches for all my
drives. It does eventually have them all displayed as usual. However,
befoer this incident no "searching" was required. System restore did not
fix this problem. Any other suggestions on how to fix this so that My
computer drive information shows up right away?? It also performs this
action now when browsing for any directory (ie: when installing a program)
It causes unnecessary delays. Also, since I somehow caused it i'd like to
fix it if i can with your help.
