I'm having this problem on XP Pro SP1 trying to upgrade to SP2. I've tried
Joe's steps and it still won't let me get past the "Checking for latest
version..................." Machine has no active firewall, is behind a
router that lets another machine connect successfully to Support and Help.
Any other thoughts? I've e-mailed the problem description to MS, hopefully
they have a souliton or I'm forever bound to what ever level of XP is
currently loaded:^)) It's a relatively new machine running an ASUS P4P800
board.
