Create a backup Registry file
1. Click Start
2. Click Run
3. Type in "regedit"
4. Click OK
5. Highlight "My Computer" on the left
6. Click the Registry menu at the top and select "Export Registry File"
7. Name the file "backup" and save it to your Desktop. [This is just in case you make a mistake. Should you do so, locate the "backup" file on your Desktop and double-click it. Select Yes and your registry will be restored.]

Probably a really basic question but - how do you back up the registry?
I've seen numerous references that suggest this be done but I don't know
how. Thanks yet again. Dianne.
