  I  know this is not a timely response; however, I came across this while cleaning up my e-mail folders.  I, too, have @home and was frustrated trying to retrieve my e-mail from locations others than home.  I found something that works for me enabling me to retrieve my @home mail from work, or while traveling, or if my server is down (which has only happened twice).  You can also use it to retrieve other mail besides @home:
